Hello

Usually I have lots of time on my hands, but recently I have been busy. So I was wondering if, after Christmas, I could get in on this project. I could be a big help on tedious things that are easy but they just take a long time. I know very little about programming, but if someone could teach me a few things it might be help in the long run.

I don't know how many people are working on the remake, but I was jsut hoping that I could help the KaM community in some way. I would love to help....or can I? Is this project supposed to be made by as few people as possible?

Hi Ben,

There are two of us working on the Remake - Lewin and me. We do the coding part mostly. This is our hobby and we treat it likewise. Same we'd expect from anyone joining the team - doing things they like to do. What would you really like to do on Remake? You said you have little experience with coding.. perhaps you could join in some other role. What do you like to do in general?

Maybe you could draw some KaM-style graphics for new menus, design maps, hunt for bugs, anything else? Maybe invent new ideas?

Maybe Lewin has some ideas?

Do you guys even design? No t game design GUI style but classes diagrams? If so, could i see them?

No, we don't do diagram design. The code is quite simple and structurized, there's no need to draw something yet.
I can sketch a rough outline for you if you like. Maybe there are tools to draw diagrams from existing code - then I could use it to show all class dependancies. In fact that would help us to better understand the code. But the fact is - we can work without it yet, so we don't spend time on it.

What I would like to do above anything else is design graphics for new menus, buttons, and buildings. Do you have a tool I can use to help with this?

I'll hunt for bugs too, but that doesn't seem like it would be a big help.
I have made many, many maps. I just Finished a 14 mission campaign, but, however, I don't really like making maps anymore. Feel free to use any that I have posted on Lewins site.

You could try and redesign Single-player map menu - there are missing icons for map kinds (fight/building).

Also you could design load menu from scratch - so it was not so boring as 10 buttons for all savegames.

Another thing you could try - prepare WatchTower graphics to KaM standart (4 images: wooden, stone, step-by-step wood, step-by-step stone)

Or draw some walls - we were thinking about including them in Remake, but we have no graphics data for it yet.

New icon for exe file would be nice too :)

There is still a need for things like an new exe file icon, redesigned load/save and single maps menus, prepared "outpost" graphics, etc.

I quickly put together an image for the Remake's icon. I just don't know how to get the blasted icon to work (like how to switch the current icon with my custom icon), and online tutorials are less than worthless...
Anyway would you guys like to see it? It isn't great, but it is an idea. I didn't want to do anything huge until I found out if you still need one. Plus, I didn't have a "theme" since it seems that the Remake seems to lack any custom touches to graphics and such.

Yes we'd love to see it! :) Post it here or email it to us if you don't want others to see it while it's not finished.
Ideally we'd like a proper icon with all of the standard sizes from 256x256 (for Windows 7/Vista) down to 16x16.

As for changing the EXE icon, well there are probably tools that can do it but it's simplest if you just send the file to us and we'll make it load that icon when it compiles.
If you want to see how it looks, create a shortcut to the KaM Remake then right click on the shortcut -> properties -> shortcut -> change icon. (might be different depending on your version of Windows)

Could I do anything? I work on my flag MOD(maybe extra to the remake) but its harder as i thought!

But to the topic. Im good in java/delphi and a little bit of c++, is it useful to the remake!??!
You aren´t a good player if you have a good PT-Army. You should be able to use it correctly!

The remake is entirely written in Delphi, so if you know Delphi, that's perfect.
