Palm Tree

What we would have to do the palm tress could be cut?
Need images for the motion?

Why change such things in a classic game? Palms were never cut in KaM.

This is one of the most suggestion things I've seen for the Remake. Understandably so, I'm sure many people were puzzled when they found out that palms can't be cut. It's clear that the original developers did not want this. If you check out mission 14 TSK, you'll see many palms and absolutely zero cuttable trees. Very aware of this, they provide you with many trunks (50?) in the storehouse.

A very nice reason to make palms cuttable would be to allow for a nicer variety of trees to be cuttable on desert maps. Right now we only have a single animation for a grown acacia tree, which looks kind of ugly. Desert terrain looks very nice in KaM, but I avoid making them because forests are too difficult. It's a moot suggestion though, because we would need animations for falling palms if they were to be cuttable. If we get an artist to animate falling palms, we would have an artist who could simply design more trees.

We have had some people in the past attempt some animation for these proposed trees, but they always disappear before they finish the project.

As I know the new beta (9700++) has options to add new objects also. So new type of trees could be a reality.

(I guess some new type of tiles would be required too , mainly for coal and stone then.
Side note, The desert maps are not really popular. I'm not sure why, maybe the minimap barely readable or the desert just burns the eyes much better...as like the ice...but palm tress definiately looks cool on grassy maps also mainly on the beach :wink: )
