Highlight missing workers on statistics page (F3)

Hi guys!

I decided to add this small feature, after request from some novice player. I know, there no so many novice players these days, but anyway it could be nice to make game more user-friendly.

The main problem for me is how exactly highlight it - there are plenty of options, so its better you guys decide what do you prefer.

First we can higlight with font color/font type, here are the examples:

1:

2:

3:

4:

5:

I do not like any of them actually, except the first one, probably. So there are some other options:

Outline - do not like either:

Other option - use flashing.
Flashing font:
option 1

option 2

Here is an example with flashing icon
flashing worker icon.

Flashing looks better IMO.

So please help me to choose how to highlight it. Thx!

Also I added +xx for training units, same as for planned/constructed houses, as you can see on some of the screenshots.

I think the second option (red font) would be the best - it's the most obvious and easy to keep track on (just need a glance to see, that's something's missing, instead of waiting for icon to flash).

2nd option looks better. Especially given that typically there will be just 1 or 2 such red numbers on the tab.

Hi!
Good one!
-Maybe the red would be strange sign. Mainly when we are talking about the miners. Some players are preaping the next coalmines, For example have 9miners and 10-11coalmines beacuse one or two soon will be depletead.
-I would recommend to make a kind od sign for the serfs too. For example Number of houses+Numbers of labourers. Of course it is not an evident thing and depends of the builds up and strategy, but would be a good sign if you don't have enough sefrs. One serfs/house use to be enough.
60-70building is kind of normal/average-- as the 60-85serfs too. The difference maybe is the 1 serfs for every labourer.
But this coloring thing is a good idnicator.
Will you indicate a siege counter also ?

Good call with the mines - that happens always.

I'm opposed to serfs indication - the game itself is visual enough to let player see that there are too few or too many of them.

I also do not think we need to mark serf - there is no any straight rule about it.
What about miners - it happens only for short period of time and if you deliberately plan/build coal mines before destroying previous one - you will remember about it and red or other sign will not confuse you.
But probably that is why we do not need to bright indication.

I tend to keep a lot of mines planned, just to have their overall layout right.
Maybe we highlight red only when worker count is less that complete houses count? This way we also keep some of the challenge associated with training workers in advance or post-factum.

I agree, its also popular to set house plans to avoid wood planting there.
So finally - mark it with red font (example #2) if
total amount constructed of houses > number of workers + number of training worker (including whose are already in training queue in schools) of specified type.

I suggestions this ages ago....got turned down because the developers misunderstood me I think lol. I proposed the method of showing a shortage of workers in red and a surplus in green.

I would recommend to use a lighter color as like the orange ones you suggested because dark red is a color what can be read very hardly on that dark background surface.
A kind of SoftGreeny color if the numbers are okay and Metal orange( :P ) if the numbers are low? Rock'n Roll

Here how it looks with such colors:

Its better then red IMO.

We can show surplus in green, when total constructed + planned houses < total trained + training (in queue) workers

I don't see a reason to highlight surplus. It's a useless info - there's nothing much that can be done about it. Green color itself implies "Good job, you have everything well", which is not the case with surplus workers.
