achievement

Achievement

I have seen before a topic about ingame achievement, but the topic became inactive and i can't find it back
But i would like to see them.

Krom/Lewin:
Is it possible to add achievements to the game?

My idea:
The achievement are PC bounded not account or anything else.
They are like life time achievements not that you need to complete them in one game, maybe some achievements but not all.

Example:

Achievement title
Knight gold
Train 600 knights
Knight silver
Train 200 knights
Knight bronze
Train 50 knights

Achievement title
Horse trainer gold
Train 2000 horses
Horse trainer silver
Train 500 horses
Horse trainer bronze
Train 50 horses

Achievement title
Killer gold
Kill 10000 units
Killer silver
Kill 3000 units
Killer bronze
Kill 1000 units

Achievement title
serf gold
Train 15000 serfs
serf silver
Train 5000 serfs
serf bronze
Train 500 serfs

You can see your achievements in the menu like

And then a table of achievements you already get with description
and a table of achievements you don't have with description

KaM Remake achievements idea has a flaw in its core - anyone can make a map in map editor and train 10000 serfs or kill 10000 units with a simple script.

Gj Skypper. But i think that it is wery easy achievements. Kill 1000 units - 4 wins on ambushed. Too easy.
I think it should be:
Bronze - 5000 units, silver - 15000, gold - 30000.
About serfs:
Bronze - 2500, silver - 10000, gold - 25000.
Horses:
Bronze - 100, silver - 500, gold - 1250 (2000 is too big)
Knights:
Bronze - 75, silver - 400, gold - 1000.
Also we can see builder achevement:
Bronze - build 1000 houses, silver - 5000, gold - 10000.
Goods:
Bronze - 50000, silver - 250000, gold - 1000000.
Weapons:
Bronze - 15000, silver - 50000, gold - 150000.
Also we can make platinum achievemets, for example if one of your soldier will kill 30 enemies in one game.
Or we win, and our losses are less that 20% of your army.
Or we win 100 games in month.
And many many other.
But i think that we need accounts for it.
Krom, can you make so that achievements will get only on maps, what developers add in game, not users maps? If it can be, we havent problem with free getting achievements.

Krom, it can be prevented pretty easily, idd. Before you hand the achievements (or add the score to "lifetime" achievements"), you could check if the game was played on an "allowed" map (included in the Remake + good quality, yet not released ones, for example Rich Land atm) and if the game has ended (all players won/lost*, in SP it should be like if you destroy what you have to [complete goals] then you are rewarded with it). If not, then the game just doesn't count ;)

*So you will have to be defeated or victorious in order to get those points for the game. Still, it's still a bit exploitable, like you can destroy your important buildings, maybe we can come up with a good idea to fix that? For example only if the enemy destroys those buildings... :D

i didn't mean to make achievement to show how good you are but only for your self, if you want that other people can see it you need account i think.
not that i am against accounts, but it way to much work i think.
so if you make a script to get achievements, fine but you can't be proud to your self, you are the only one that will see it.
but bence/vovets idea is better :)

@Bence: There's another exploit - player can kill enemies army, save the game, destroy 50 enemy houses, then reload it and destroy 50 houses again, then reload and destroy again, and so on. That should be resolved somehow as well.

@Skypper: Even for themselves, players would like to make a topic on this forum to compare to each other, so we should account for the competitive factor from the start.

I don't see this as a problem for singleplayer. Achievements are meant to give something for a player to strive for. If he cheats to do it, so what? That makes him happy. I, personally, would enjoy the challenge of collecting achievements, as I do in many other games.
I used to spam this forum so much...

@Ben: KaM Remake is mostly a multiplayer game, let's not forget about that. Meaningful achievements should work for sp and mp as well.

Maybe if only the kills (or anything else that is needed) that can be seen in the replay would count?

@Bence: Which replay? Each reload would produce a different replay, which of these replays is the one that we should count? )

My best idea was to assign an unique ID to each started game and collect stats from its outcome, storing the UID and stats, then picking one single record and count only it. so if player replays the mission (from save) achievements don't change.

Essentially we get Badges for a single mission completion (lost less than killed, etc.)
and Achievements for cumulative missions completions (total kills, etc.)

@Vovets: Assume we have that. Only certain maps count. Only SP. There's still the problem with saves/loads.

Start Vortamic, play 1 hour, save.
Load save, win the game (stats: killed 435 units, 98 houses), Exit.
Load save, win the game (stats: killed 400 units, 110 houses), Exit.
Load save, win the game (stats: killed 635 units, 90 houses), Exit.
Load save, loose the game (stats: killed 335 units, 14 houses), Exit.

Which stats do we count in achievements?

The best! :D So we will only have 1 "score" from each mission.

Edit: Lol Vortamic, the initial attack consists of more soldiers than 335 :D :P But anyway I get what you mean.
