EDit units.da

Hi KaM Remake Community,

im a kam Remake Player from Germany and i have been playing kam since 1998.
Id like to edit the Units.dat for reasons of cheating.

So when i open the Units.dat with Notepad or another text Editor i get only some Kind letter salad. Cant read or edit anything. :(
So how do i manage to edit the Units.dat ?`

thx for your answers

Re: EDit units.da

There were some unit.dat editors around, as far as I can remember. You could try searching for them.

Re: EDit units.da

Hello there,

I found Merchators Editor for Unit.dat

http://www.moddb.com/games/knights-and- ... ata-editor

I tried this Editor, but firstly it doesnt work and secondly the modiefied Unit.dat will Crash My saves.

Isnt there any Programm like specialized Notepad or some Kind of other Editor to simply open the unit.dat to edit the stats ?

Re: EDit units.da

Units.dat is stored in binary and can not be edited in Notepad. You could try hex editors, but that would be nearly impossible without deeper knowledge.

Can you quote the savegame crash message?

You can try this hex editing guide: http://www.knightsandmerchants.net/foru ... 3118#p3118
(It should be in the thread for the editor you linked)

Re: EDit units.da

You can try this one
https://puu.sh/sawaJ/a41be30a94.rar
It can save dat info (need to overwrite another unit.dat file). But anyway AFAIK you will not able to use ur saves, and for sure you will not able to enter multiplayer. Unless you modified game client and gave it to ur friend (so you both have same client).

Re: EDit units.da

Please help

I downloaded the Editor for units, Unrar'ed it into the .exe file. When I click on it I get the message:
"Uniteditor.exe is not a valid Win 32 application"
Does anyone have a solution or even a suggestion I might try? I am NOT very savy about such matters, so ANY assistance will me MOST appreciated!

Re: EDit units.da

Hello,

Did you download it from link I provided (https://puu.sh/sawaJ/a41be30a94.rar) ?

**update**
If I understand correctly from other topic on this forum, you successfully changed dat file values via uniteditor. Am I right ?
