General error

Failed sending email :: PHP ::

DEBUG MODE

Line : 234
File : emailer.php
When I tried to post somewhere - perhaps because someone subscribed to that thread.. (maybe with an invalid email address?)

Edit: the post did show up though, so the error is not that bad

It seems to be affecting almost all posting in the forum. I'm not sure what I can do about it, but I'll have a look.

Well I normally receive about 20 emails per day from the forum, but yesterday/today I didn't get any, so I guess the emailing thing isn't working.

Perhaps the SMTP server is down? Although I'm having no trouble posting right now.

@Harold: You just seem to cause problems on this forum. :D First you got invalid sessions, now this!
Lewin.

EDIT: It's happening for me now, but only sometimes...

Well it seems to be still going on... :( I don't think it's caused by someone subscribing for any thread, phpBB throwing up an error message for a failed mail like that would be quite cheap and would probably have been fixed in the software during all the revisions it has had.
Besides the host admin seems to have disappeared so things are not looking too good. I think I'll have to try making a text backup of the forum in case something bad is going to happen soon (I wouldn't be too surprised). The admin has blocked the normal back-up method (which is very common for free forums, actually didn't find a single one that allowed database backups back when I made this one) and is actually selling database backups (cheap bastard...).
Anyone know of any good text sweep tool for forums? Can't see myself doing it by hand.

Hmmm... Well I found this tool, it looks ok, plus it's completely free!: :D
http://www.httrack.com/

It's not optimised for forums, (it will mirror the whole site) but it will make a copy of all of the text for you. (not in an easily accessible form, but you will still have it)

I did a little test with it, and let it mirror for about 5 minutes then I cancelled. It did a good job, and let me browse the site (well, the pages which it had downloaded) stored on my computer. I think that with that tool you will be able to make a good mirror of the site, but it might take a while.

Let us know how it goes!
Lewin.

Well it wasn't exactly what I was looking for, had it runnning for 20 hours and it wrote me 1GB of data, but perhaps a new forum could be created and this one left as read only. Then in case it goes offline, the backup could be uploaded somewhere.
I don't like the idea of loosing all posts, some more important ones could well be copied over as text only, but it's obvious this forum can't stay here...
