KaMRepos

Hello all,

A while back I made a topic where members could request new KaM.net features. Krom came up with the idea of a Map Repository. Right now, there's no way to transfer maps in KaM Remake, and there's also no 'central storage' or download location for Knights and Merchants maps.

That is about to change, because I'd like to present to you my own creation: KaMRepos. KaMRepos is a map repository designed for the uploading and download of Knights and Merchants maps. Please note that, although a few weeks of testing, the repository is still in beta and may contain bugs. Please report any bugs to me.

Let's hope KaMRepos will make the lives of KaM gamers a bit easier :)

Finally, I'd like to thank all my testers: The Dark Lord, Lewin, Shadaoe, dicsoupcan, sado1 and Skypper.

Enjoy!

Wishlist
- Upload replays
- Stars instead of numbers as rating

How about adding the ability to upload replays as well, might be quite handy and I don't think it would require too much work.

That is being considered at the moment. But since KaMRepos is still in beta and we'd like to see it used first, there's no guarantee it will be implemented.

Also, replays aren't really that popular, so the need isn't that high as with maps.

Poor Lewin's website. Who will use it now? :(

What? According to who? :P

Well done!
I'm looking forward to see more maps in the repo :)

P.S. I guess replays section would be nice too, since many guys share replays through forum and they could be of use to larger audience to learn from, but so far forum seems to be handling that quite ok.

Maybe we can have a link to my map tutorial somewhere(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjxTPkf1HU8)?
(pretty please :))

Or I suppose people could use it as a readme :D

That would be nice, but there was no need for the avril background to appeal to anti

Go for it, I'm starting to have trouble finding pictures of her that I haven't seen before ;)

But seriously, is the tutorial good for the Repos?

It's actually a pretty good video :)

I forgot to make a 'How do I install downloaded map?' question in the FAQ (which, imo, should always be a readme.txt in the zip). I'll write stuff down and include your video :)

PS. I'm not sure if you know (and for KaM maps it doesn't really matter), but if you use the drag and drop feature of WinRAR, it uses the TEMP directory of your Windows. So when you dragged it to your desktop, you had two copies: one on your desktop, and one in your TEMP folder. Like I said, for KaM maps it doesn't matter, but you might want to know stuff like this when dealing with larger archives.

Edit: I've included it in the FAQ :)

Maybe we can take some advice from Lewin and have actual stars instead of a number showing the rating of a mission?

I'm not so fond of stars displaying a rating. Sorry about the late response btw, must've read it on my mobile and forgot to reply later.

It seems the edit function was bugged in Google Chrome. That has been fixed now.
