Re: KaM Map Repository: KaMRepos

I have a question about the archive; I'd like to update a file but I don't see any possibilities for this. Am I blind or is it indeed impossible?

Depends on what you mean by 'update'. It's possible to edit your previously updated map and select the new file.

What do you think about adding it to the main site menu?

Yeah, that might not be such a bad idea. The problem is that KaMRepos requests the sid of visitor to determine if a forum user is logged in or not. That functionality is not entirely bug-free, so I'll have to fix that first before I'll put it on the main site.

I have some stuff at work going on atm, but when things get a bit quieter I'll see if I can make it happen :)

Re: KaM Map Repository: KaMRepos

So I've fixed that bug and I've added a link to KaMRepos in the Fan Creations -> Custom Maps section. Check it out here: http://www.knightsandmerchants.net/fan- ... stom-maps/

Re: KaM Map Repository: KaMRepos

Hm. Would that be possible to show last update date (or simply first upload date if that's easier) of each map, and be able to sort the list by the dates?

That's possible, but I'm pretty reluctant to implementing this. It causes older maps to be ignored and only new(er) or updated maps to be downloaded. In my opinion upload date shouldn't matter and doesn't influence the quality of a map.

Re: KaM Map Repository: KaMRepos

However, people checking the site once in a while for new additions (right now I needed it for updating the potential new Remake additions list in my topic), would surely appreciate such a feature. How about hiding the date column from guests, which are the group most likely to judge the maps the way you describe it?

That might be a good idea. I'll see if I can make this work, I'm currently already working on v1.1 of the Repos so you're actually right on time :P

speaking of which, maybe logged users can see new map posts (blue) like new forum posts?

Well that's not going to happen, because it would mean a pretty big rewrite of the code. I'll keep it in mind for v2.0, together with the star rating ;)

I've been thinking some more about this and it's actually impossible now :P

The maps that are currently uploaded have an unknown upload date, so that looks kinda stupid..

Re: KaM Map Repository: KaMRepos

It's not perfect, but all maps submitted before dates enabled could just have a set default date, similar to how all very old members of the forum registered at "19:00."
I used to spam this forum so much...
